Roasted pumpkin seeds are definitely a seasonal treat. I don't think I've ever seen them in a store -- though I haven't looked for them -- and no one goes out and buys a pumpkin just to make the seeds. Deviled eggs are always the first thing to go at parties. But people keep trying to dress them up, make them "fancy" and "sophisticated". Which usually means paprika on top. This is a variation on the potted chicken with tomatoes that I did for the Aetna Healthy Food Fight. Actually, I should call the tomato recipe the variation, since other versions are much more like this one. For instance Susan at "Cooking to Save" has this version, that starts out almost exactly like mine. Then there's this one at DVO, which uses the whole chicken like in my previous version.
