The last time I made turkey soup I totally spoiled my kids for ever giving them canned soup again. This time I think I've ruined myself. Depending on who you talk to, carbonara may have eggs, cream, mushrooms, peas, garlic, pepper, and any of a half-dozen different kinds of cheese as the "proper" ingredients. Here's a tip for any single folks trying to impress a date: Invite them over for dinner and whip up a killer Alfredo sauce from scratch while they're sipping a glass of wine. I was never good at chemistry. I was fine at the book work but I was absolutely hopeless in the lab. That's why I leave the baking to my wife. She's great at fine-tuning a recipe and getting it just right time after time. I'm more of a seat-of-the-pants kind of cook. Taste it along the way, come out with something I like.
