How To Make Yogurt Pound Cake

This is the second thing I'm making with the yogurt I got from Stonyfield Farms. I can't say how this will compare to what you'll get using other yogurt, because my wife, who eats yogurt plain -- I only use it as an ingredient in recipes -- assures me it's way better than any other yogurt she's tried. She says it's got the distinctive yogurty tang, but it tastes more like melted ice cream than like other yogurts. Anyway, this isn't technically a pound cake, though the texture is really … [Read more...]

What can you make with maple syrup?

The fine folks at the Federation of Quebec Maple Syrup Producers sent me a selection of four grades of maple syrup, as shown in the picture above. I could just pour them all over pancakes and waffles and tell you how good they all were. But I want to use them in recipes. Only problem is, I don't have any. It is an intense event with discussions, demos and interaction from participants who are the main actors of the event. It is community driven and everyone is encouraged to participate by presenting (food, art, … [Read more...]

How To Make Baked Yogurt Chicken With Rice

I won't pretend it's as good as the grilled chicken ... that was almost a religious experience. But for something that you can just throw in a dish, put it in the oven and walk away, this is pretty amazing. The yogurt marinade does double duty here. It didn't just tenderize the chicken, it provided almost all the liquid for the rice. And since it's a dairy product, the rice came … [Read more...]
