Last year, Winnie discovered a Mulberry tree down on the beach. This year, we noticed there’s one down on Lakeshore Blvd., where we take Bean for her walks. So we grabbed Katie, one of the new neighbors, and hopped on our bikes.
Winnie showed me that yes, they were ripe.
Ana couldn’t even wait to get her helmet off.
Katie hopped right in there and started picking with them.
That bush looks awfully big, doesn’t it?
In fact, it looks downright huge!
Okay, that’s not all mulberry. It’s actually growing up into a tree.
Walking around in dropped mulberries means you get dark bluish-purple stains all over yourself.
I caught this one popping them straight in her mouth.
And I didn’t freak out about how they hadn’t been washed yet.
It took 10 minutes for the four of us to collect this.
Man, it’s going to take forever to get enough to start canning them.
