How To Make Peanut Butter Banana Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ever had a peanut-butter and banana sandwich? Yummy combination. Then there’s chocolate covered bananas. Another great pairing. And of course everyone knows peanut-butter and chocolate taste great together. (Can I say that without a trademark symbol? Guess I’ll find out.)

So how about all three at the same time? Yeah, totally works.

Ingredients

131212-134620½ cup butter
½ cup brown sugar
¾ cup mashed banana
½ cup peanut butter
1 large egg
½ cup flour
¾ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
1 cup chocolate chips
1 teaspoon vanilla (optional)

Directions

It’s tempting to just throw everything in a bowl and start mixing, but if the baking powder and baking soda aren’t evenly distributed you’ll get dense cookies with bubbles. Not good.

So start out by mixing all the dry ingredients — flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda — and whisk them together.

Set the dry ingredients aside and cream the sugar and butter together.

If you don’t know what “cream together” means (or if you think it’s something dirty … shame on you) check out Jenny’s tutorial here.

Then mix in the banana, peanut butter and egg.

Now scrape down the bowl and add the dry ingredients. You could use the mixer, but a few turns with the spatula and it was good.

Same with the chocolate chips.

Now scoop the dough out onto a baking sheet covered with parchment paper. Seriously, spring for the couple bucks for the parchment. You’ll thank me when you lift the cookies off with no sticking.

Bake at 350°F for 15-20 minutes until golden brown. Lift one up and make sure they’re not still soft on the bottom.

And that’s it.
