Radio Appearance, and a Contest

I’ve got another radio appearance coming up tomorrow, and Dinneen at Eat Without Guilt is having a contest. Read on for details about both.

Mine first, just because it’s happening sooner. Tomorrow I’m going to be on Darla Shine’s show 2:20pm EST Saturday, April 18th. Click here for a full station listing, to see what local station carries her show.

And that’s all I’ve got to say about that.

Free one-on-one diet counseling

Three winners will each get an hour long one-on-one “Get Out of The Diet Rut” Session with Dinneen Diette, host of Eat Without Guilt.

The thing I love about Dinneen’s philosophy is that it’s not based on academic theory, but observation of how real people actually eat, and what works for them. With a degree from the largest nutrition school in the world, the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, Dinneen’s breakthrough came when she lived in France and saw people eating in a way that defied the conventional wisdom in the U.S., and living longer, healthier lives. She realized that eating reasonable amounts of real food was a much saner way to achieve good health.

Go check out the contest rules and enter for your chance to win. I’m not getting anything out of this recommendation, except the knowledge that maybe someone else will start enjoying real food. The kind that I like to make.

What are you still doing here? Go enter her contest.

Cool! Hope the radio spot went well–guess I’ll listen to it when it makes its way into the Darla archives, unless you have a link? :)

They just put up the first two shows for April, I’m hoping mine is up soon.

Cooking used to be all about making food that tasted good. But somewhere along the way, we seem to have decided the diet-of-the-week was more important. How to Cook Like Your Grandmother is a return to recipes and techniques that are based on what tastes good, not on junk science and fad diets. You won't find the words lite, low, lean, free or skim anywhere. This is all real food, cooked the way Grandma would have done it.

People have been making and eating food as long as there have been people. And food. But somehow we've let ourselves believe that it's something only experts can do "right". That's where Starting From Scratch comes in. I'm not saying you'll go from zero to hero just by reading it, but at least now you'll know what those self-proclaimed experts are talking about.
