About a week ago I asked you to write to my local Fox station to help me get on TV. Apparently quite a few of you did … and it worked!
I’ll be appearing on That’s Life, with Robin Swoboda at 10 a.m., Wednesday, January 21st. I’ll be making the frozen chocolate truffle pie. There should be a link to a webcast by the next day.
I can’t tell you how awesome this is, and how much I appreciate each one of you who wrote in. Here’s hoping this is just the first of many.

Oh I can’t wait! I love reading your blog, especially for the fact that you are right up the road from me, I am in Youngstown! Setting it to record now.
That’s wonderful Drew, congrats! I did a segment once when I lived in Vegas. It was going to be regular thing, seasonal stuff for mom (kid’s lunches, parenting stuff, kid’s crafts, etc) but was pushed aside because of Hurricane Katrina coverage. I appeared the day after Katrina hit and the newsroom was a madhouse.
Break a leg!
Drew, I’m so chuffed for you! You really do deserve it, you’ve made this blog a fantastic one with your recipes and photos!
Hope this leads to bigger and better things!
Cheers!
Josh
Drew’s gonna be faaaamous! Congratulations.
But what I would really like to say is “chuffed” may be the best word in the English language. Why don’t Americans use this word? I think I may start.
Katie, maybe this spring I’ll do a meetup at the West Side Market. I’ve heard from at least two more people who are relatively local.
Amanda, I was already bumped. When they first contacted me they said it would be the 20th. Later that day someone in their office said, “Hey, isn’t that the inauguration?”
Josh, first the internet, then radio, now TV … I guess that means movies are next.
Kristin, I agree on “chuffed”. But how is it extended? Can you chuff someone else? If you’re not chuffed yet but are getting that way, are you chuffing? And by the way, I think it’s cool as hell that the spell checker built into Firefox recognizes “chuffed”.
The people spoke, and we were heard. I just wish I was in the local TV market so I could see it for real, but I’m chuffed that it will be available online! Go Drew!
Does chuffing make a sound? I’m imagining an old steam locomotive … chuff … chuff … chuff … woo-woo!
Awesome! You’re going to post the link to the webcast right?
Absolutely, as soon as they send me the link I’ll have it up.
I’ve never heard the word “chuffed.”
Here’s Merriam-Webster:
chuffed
Pronunciation: \ˈchəft\
Function: adjective
Etymology: English dialect chuff pleased, puffed with fat
Date: 1957
British : quite pleased : delighted
I liked the “puffed with fat.”
I’m really looking forward to seeing the link to your first step toward stardom… Following in Paula Deen’s footsteps!
Barb, I could do worse than to follow in Paula’s footsteps.
But are you happy enough to ship us food? ‘Cause that’s the REAL 800-lb elephant in the room!
Congrats. I even sent mine on my “official” stationary from work (I produce TV) hoping it would count “extra”.
MeadowLark, so where do you produce TV? (Yes, I’m already looking ahead to my next appearance.) If I end up on your show I promise to leave plenty of leftovers.
Wow! Congratulations!
